Reverse description The celebrated silphium plant, the iconic emblem of Kyrene and its principal export commodity, depicted frontally with a stout central stalk, broad spreading leaves, and a rounded seed head at the apex. The plant is rendered with botanical precision characteristic of Kyrenaican civic coinage, its multiple branching stems curving outward symmetrically from the central axis. A dotted border or partial wreath frames the inner field on the left. To the right, a vertical inscription KYPANA identifies the issuing city, accompanied by what appears to be a magistrate's symbol or additional device in the right field.
