Reverse description Central field displays the large quartered arms of Lucerne — the characteristic divided shield bearing the Lucerne diagonal bar — surmounted by a decorative floral or foliate crest. The shield is rendered in the late Gothic heraldic style typical of Swiss Renaissance coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the arms, with a circular Latin legend in the outer field reading MONETA LUCERNENSIS or equivalent civic motto. Separating devices such as rosettes or pellets punctuate the legend. The square klippe format is clearly visible at the corners of the flan.
