| Obverse description | Central crowned shield of arms of the Bishopric of Sion, displaying a crowned eagle below, set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is flanked by decorative foliate and thistle ornaments at the four cardinal points. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, partially divided by the decorative elements. The hammered flan imparts an irregular outline typical of late 15th-century Swiss episcopal coinage. |
