Obverse description The obverse displays the arms of Schaffhausen: a rampant ram to the left positioned before a crenellated city gate or tower, rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style typical of early seventeenth-century Swiss hammered coinage. The date appears in the upper field flanking the central device. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition, separated from the central design by a linear border.
