| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Thann, surmounted by a decorative finial, set within an ornate quadrilobe frame composed of Gothic foliage and beaded inner border. The field between the quadrilobe and the coin edge is filled with intricate foliate ornaments. The date 1499 and the surrounding Latin legend appear in Gothic lettering along the outer margin, divided by a small cross pattée. |
