Obverse description Helmeted head of King Perseus facing right, depicted in the guise of the mythological hero Perseus. The winged helmet is embellished with a griffin protome above the visor, rendered in the Hellenistic artistic tradition. The portrait displays strong, idealized facial features characteristic of Macedonian royal coinage of the period. The field is plain, with no surrounding legend.
