Obverse description Head of Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion scalp headdress, rendered in the characteristic late Classical Macedonian style. The facial features, though partially obscured by heavy patination and encrustation, display the youthful, idealized treatment typical of Alexander III coinage. The lion's mane frames the face with naturalistic detail. The flan is irregular, as is common for hammered bronze issues of this period.
