Obverse description Facing head of a youthful male deity, likely the local hero Gyrtone or a river god, depicted full-face with curly hair adorned with a wreath of vine leaves or ivy, rendered in a style characteristic of Thessalian bronze coinage of the late Classical period. The hair falls in tight rounded locks framing the face symmetrically. A dotted border runs along the upper periphery of the flan. A monogram appears to the right of the head in the field. The modeling of the facial features is bold and somewhat provincial in character.
