| Beschrijving keerzijde | An upright Heraklean club occupies the central field, flanked on either side by a dolphin swimming upward, their bodies curving gracefully toward the club in a balanced heraldic arrangement. The entire composition is enclosed within an olive wreath, its branches tied with a bow at the bottom, a device emblematic of Herakleia's civic and mythological identity. The design alludes directly to the hero Herakles, patron of the city, through both the club and the surrounding laurel. The relief is crisp, consistent with well-preserved hammered bronze coinage of the early fourth century BC. |
