| Beschrijving keerzijde | A winged thunderbolt depicted horizontally in the central field, its wings spread symmetrically to either side with detailed feathering visible; the thunderbolt itself is rendered with the characteristic zigzag form of Ptolemaic bronzes. The ΜΑΓ monogram, referencing the co-regent Magas of Cyrene, appears above the thunderbolt. The encircling legend ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ runs around the design, interrupted by the monogram, identifying the issuing authority as King Ptolemy. The reverse composition is characteristic of Cyrenaican mint output under the joint authority of Ptolemy II and Magas. |
