Additional information

Colybrassus was a minor Lycaonian or Pisidian city whose precise regional attribution remains debated among scholars — the city's coinage is itself one of the primary sources used to argue its location. Herennius Etruscus, for whom this piece was struck, never reigned independently; his father Trajan Decius elevated him to Caesar and then Augustus in 251 AD, only for both to die at the Battle of Abritus against the Goths in June of that year, making issues struck in his name among the shortest-lived of any third-century imperial series. The SNG von Aulock specimen remains the standard comparative reference for this type.
