Reverse description Central field displays a short cross pattée with a six-pointed star positioned in one of the cantons, and a small annulet or pellet in another canton, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross divides the inner field into four quarters in the tradition of medieval French feudal deniers. The outer marginal legend surrounds the beaded circle, separated by a raised rim. The irregular flan and weak areas of strike are consistent with hammered billon production of the late 13th century.
