Reverse description A large, boldly struck letter S occupies the central field, flanked on either side by a single pellet, forming the characteristic pellet-S-pellet device associated with the Tours mint type. The surrounding field is encircled by a circular Latin legend reading + SCI MARTIN, repeating the dedication to Saint Martin of Tours. The overall design is characteristic of the anonymous Touraine denier series, executed in a simplified hammered style consistent with early Carolingian period provincial coinage.
