Beschrijving voorzijde Helmeted head of Roma facing right, rendered in the Gallo-Roman style with a winged crested helmet featuring prominent plumes and cheek guards. The effigy displays characteristically schematized facial features with a pellet eye and stylized hair locks visible beneath the helmet rim. The legend AMBILLI appears in the left field, reading downward. The flan is irregular and slightly polygonal in outline, typical of struck Gaulish silver coinage of the late Republican period.

Aanvullende informatie

The AMBILLI inscription has generated genuine disagreement among Celtic numismatists — some attribute it to a tribal name, others to a moneyer or magistrate responsible for the issue. EBVRO, appearing on the reverse, is generally associated with the Eburovices or a cognate group, though its presence here in the Rhone Valley suggests either a wide territorial reach or, more plausibly, a minting arrangement between neighboring peoples during a period of intensifying Roman pressure on southern Gaul following the reorganization of Gallia Transalpina around 120 BC.
