| Reverse description | A plain cross pattée centered within a beaded inner circle, its four arms extending to the inner ring, dividing the field into four quarters. A further outer legend in uncial Latin script runs between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular edge, proclaiming the issuer's ducal title. The reverse design follows the standard feudal denier type of the region, with bold, simple lines characteristic of thirteenth-century Aquitainian billon coinage. The strike is typical of hand-hammered medieval production, with slight flatness and flan irregularities. |
