| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts a sickle flanked by the numeral II and the letter S, accompanied by a small crosslet, all rendered in the crude, angular style characteristic of medieval feudal coinage. The design elements are arranged within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend surrounds the central motif, reading COMЄS GRIIIЄHOI, identifying the issuer as Count William of Nevers. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period. The lettering is bold and slightly uneven, typical of 12th-century provincial dies. |
