The design exhibits the bold, abstract execution characteristic of mid-eighth-century Aquitanian hammered coinage. The legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan in an irregular arrangement. A beaded border frames the entire reverse. The engraving style is consistent with the barbarous provincial coinage produced during the reign of Duke Waifer. |
