Obverse description Armored equestrian figure of the duke depicted in right profile, mounted on a prancing horse and brandishing a sword raised above the head; the rider wears a helmet and chainmail. The composition is set within a beaded inner circle, with no legible inscription in the field. The vigorous, stylized rendering is characteristic of Bohemian Romanesque die-cutting of the mid-twelfth century.
