Beschrijving keerzijde Architectural motif depicting a stylized castle or city gate with two flanking towers and a central arched gateway, rendered in schematic relief characteristic of Bohemian-Moravian coinage of the period. A multi-rayed rosette or star device occupies the upper field above the central structure. Two attendant figures or columns flank the composition on either side. The design is executed in the crude but vigorous hammered style common to early 13th-century Moravian deniers, with no legible surrounding legend.

Aanvullende informatie

Vladislaus Henry ruled Moravia as margrave under the fractious politics of the Přemyslid dynasty, a period when Bohemian and Moravian branches of the family were in near-constant competition for precedence. His long tenure — unusual for the period — allowed for a relatively sustained coinage, though Moravian deniers of this era are notoriously inconsistent in die execution, a product of decentralized minting rather than any single controlled operation.

Cach 879 sits late in the Moravian denier sequence, and examples with sharp dies are genuinely scarce.
