The Bishopric of Kołobrzeg had a fractured administrative history — the see was established in 1000 AD under the Gniezno synod but collapsed within decades under Pomeranian pagan resistance, only to be functionally revived through the Cammin diocese structure centuries later. By the 1300s, ecclesiastical coinage from this Baltic coastal mint operated in a commercial environment shaped heavily by Hanseatic trade networks, with Kołobrzeg's salt trade making it one of the more economically consequential towns in the region despite its modest episcopal standing.
The attribution to an unspecified bishop reflects genuine archival ambiguity rather than cataloging laziness — die linkage studies have not yet resolved which of the 14th-century Cammin suffragans authorized these strikes.
