Reverse description Central field displays a stylised castellated crown of three visible fleurs or turrets, rendered in a bold, somewhat schematic style consistent with Provençal feudal coinage of the period. The crown motif, symbolic of comital authority, is set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding marginal legend reads + PVINCIALIS, the abbreviated Latin form of Provincialis, identifying the coin's Provençal origin, with the letters separated by a stop. The flan is irregular and shows the typical surface patina of an aged billon issue.
