Obverse description Central field features a trefoil design enclosing three heraldic symbols: a fleur-de-lis at upper left, a dolphin at center-right, and the mintmark at lower position. The composition is set within a beaded inner circle, with the abbreviated royal legend running along the outer border. The overall arrangement is characteristic of the Dauphiné denier tournois type struck for Francis I, rendered in the crude style typical of hammered billon coinage of the period.
