Obverse description Central field depicts two fleurs-de-lis arranged side by side and separated by a central pellet, all contained within a trilobe (trefoil arch) flanked by three pellets at the cusps. The design is rendered in the bold, slightly irregular style characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the early French Renaissance. A crowned lys appears at the start of the circumferential legend. The surrounding inscription names Louis XII as King of the Franks.
