Reverse description A cross pattée occupying the full central field, with arms extending to the inner circle, dividing the reverse into four quarters. The cross arms broaden toward their extremities in the classic pattée form typical of Breton feudal deniers tournois. A surrounding Latin legend encircles the design between the inner and outer borders. The flan is irregular with a slightly uneven strike, as expected for a hammered medieval issue. The design follows the standard tournois type adapted for the Duchy of Brittany under John IV.
