背面描述 Central field features a plain cross pattee inscribed within a single inner circle, the standard reverse type of the denier tournois tradition. The four quadrants of the cross are plain and unornamented, rendered in the bold, somewhat irregular style typical of hammered billon coinage of the Hundred Years War period. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, reading TVRONVS FRANCIE, referencing the Tournois monetary tradition and the kingdom of France. The overall composition closely follows the long-established denier tournois design originating at Tours.

附加信息

Henri VI's claim to the French throne rested on the Treaty of Troyes (1420), which disinherited the Dauphin and named the English king heir to France. This denier tournois was struck under that dual-monarchy arrangement, making it simultaneously a French royal issue and an English imperial instrument. The tournois series had been minted at Tours since the Capetian period; by 1423, the English regency government was issuing it from multiple occupied mints to assert administrative normalcy across territory still actively contested by Armagnac forces.

Henri was just two years old when this coin was struck.
