Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Henri IV facing right, set within an inner circle. The king is depicted with a ruffled collar and a ribbon tied at the nape, rendered in a bold, slightly crude hammered style characteristic of late 16th-century French provincial coinage. The surrounding circular legend reads HENRI 4 R DE FRAN ET NAVA, an abbreviated form of 'Henri IV Roi de France et de Navarre', separated by pellets.
