背面描述 Central field depicts a cross pattee set within a trilobe or quatrefoil inner circle, following the long-standing Tournois reverse convention derived from the Saint-Martin de Tours original type. The cross is rendered in bold low relief, with slightly splayed arms. The surrounding legend SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICTUM, abbreviated as SIT NOMEN DNI B, runs clockwise in Roman capitals within the outer beaded border. The overall design is typical of hammered billon deniers of the Capetian and Valois traditions, showing characteristic irregular flan and variable strike quality.

附加信息

Charles VIII came to the throne at thirteen, and the regency crisis that immediately followed his father Louis XI's death in 1483 had real monetary consequences — administrative continuity at the mints was patchy, and output of small billon denominations fluctuated sharply in the opening years of his reign. The denier tournois was by this point an ancient denomination, its design conventions frozen for generations, but the specific legend variant catalogued here as Dy605A places it within a narrow window of production.

The tournois lineage traces to Saint-Martin de Tours, though by the fifteenth century that origin was purely nominal.
