Obverse description Central field features a plain cross with splayed arms extending toward a beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four quadrants. The cross is boldly rendered in the Tournois style typical of feudal French deniers of the mid-thirteenth century. A circular beaded border frames the inner design, with the Latin legend arranged around the periphery between the inner and outer rims. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production. The coin exhibits characteristic medieval die-striking, with some areas of flatness due to uneven planchet preparation.
