| Additional information |
Theoderich of Rötteln served as Bishop of Basel under Henry III, a period during which imperial bishops across the German lands exercised minting rights as direct instruments of royal fiscal policy. The Basel mint at this time operated under close imperial oversight — Henry III was unusually hands-on in managing ecclesiastical appointments and their associated privileges following the Synod of Sutri in 1046.
Michd Bâle#27 is among the thinner documented types in the Basel episcopal sequence, with surviving examples scarce enough that die linkage studies remain incomplete.
