Obverse description Central field features a plain cross pattée dividing the coin into four quarters, with small pellets or annulets placed in alternate angles of the cross. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the circumferential Latin legend. The coin exhibits the irregular flan and weakly struck areas characteristic of hammered medieval deniers, with an uneven border of raised metal at the rim.

Reverse description The reverse presents a stylised Romanesque church or cathedral façade in high relief at the centre of the field, surmounted by a cross on the gabled roof and featuring three arched openings at the base, representative of the collegiate or episcopal church associated with Épinal. The architectural motif is surrounded by a beaded circle, with the circumferential Latin legend partially visible around the periphery. The overall workmanship reflects the provincial hammered coinage style of the mid-twelfth-century Lorraine region.
