| Obverse description | Full frontal standing figure of Duke Spitignew II rendered in a schematic, Romanesque style, depicted wearing a long robe with decorative detailing and holding a lance or sceptre in the right hand. The figure is flanked on both sides by the retrograde or irregular Latin legend DUX SPITIGEV, distributed around the field in the characteristic manner of early Bohemian hammered coinage. The die workmanship is bold but crude, typical of mid-eleventh-century Přemyslid mint production, with the design elements occupying most of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Central design depicting a stylised cross or interlaced ornamental motif flanked by two facing figures rendered in a primitive Romanesque manner, possibly representing ecclesiastical personages or angels in veneration. The surrounding field carries the Latin legend SCS WENCESLAS in irregular distribution around the type, invoking the patron saint of Bohemia, Saint Wenceslaus. The execution is characteristic of hammered Přemyslid deniers of the eleventh century, with bold but schematic lettering and a slightly off-centre strike on an irregular flan. |

| Additional information |
Spytihněv II ruled Bohemia from 1055 until his death in 1061, a reign notable for his expulsion of all German clergy from the country in 1055 — a dramatic assertion of Přemyslid independence from the Holy Roman Empire that created immediate ecclesiastical disorder. Coinage from his reign is accordingly sparse, and Cach 330 is among the scarcer documented types.
