Beschrijving voorzijde Within a beaded inner circle surmounted by an arch or canopy, two standing figures face one another in a scene of investiture or homage; the figure on the left appears to hold a staff or sceptre, while the central seated or standing figure receives or presents an object. The composition is rendered in the Romanesque hammered style typical of 12th-century Bohemian deniers, with crude but expressive figural work. A partial legend in Latin characters runs along the outer margin above the inner circle.

Aanvullende informatie

Soběslav I secured the Bohemian throne in 1125 by defeating and killing his rival Otto II of Olomouc at the Battle of Chlumec — a victory that also repelled a supporting German imperial force under Emperor Lothar III. The coinage issued in the immediate aftermath reflects a ruler consolidating power rapidly, with deniers of this period showing considerable die variation consistent with decentralized or hastily expanded production.

Cach 580 is among the scarcer attributed types for this reign.
