The surrounding field is filled with a border of triangular pellet devices and degenerate pseudo-lettering arranged around the periphery, characteristic of the imitative inscription style found on Piast deniers of this period. An outer beaded or rope-pattern border frames the entire composition. The design is typical of late eleventh-century Polish hammered silver coinage, combining decorative geometric elements with vestigial epigraphic ornament. |
