Obverse description Facing bust of Archbishop Ruthard rendered in a crude Romanesque style, depicted full-face with stylized hair and beard radiating outward from the visage. The face is boldly struck with prominent eyes and schematic facial features characteristic of late 11th-century ecclesiastical coinage. A partial Latin legend surrounds the bust reading RVD(..)RD EPS, identifying the issuing archbishop. The legend is irregularly distributed around the coin's periphery, with some characters partially off-flan due to the hammered production technique.
