| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain Latin cross dominates the central field, with two fleurs-de-lis and two crescents alternating in the four angles formed by the cross arms, a decorative arrangement characteristic of the episcopal coinage of Reims. The peripheral legend is inscribed around the coin's circumference, identifying the city of issue. The overall composition follows the standard cantonned-cross type prevalent in French feudal deniers of the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The relief is low and the strike somewhat uneven, as is typical of hammered medieval coinage. The fleurs-de-lis and crescents serve as heraldic symbols associated with the Archbishopric of Reims. |
