Obverse description Central polylobed roundel enclosing a quatrefoil or cinquefoil floral motif in relief, evoking a stylized flower or rosette, characteristic of feudal French moneyers' dies. The motif is set within a plain inner circle, surrounded by the circular legend in uncial Latin characters. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven in thickness, consistent with hand-hammered medieval coinage.
