| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central device features a large sword or cross with a prominent pommel, oriented vertically and overlaying a rounded shield or escutcheon, rendered in low relief typical of hammered medieval coinage. Flanking elements, possibly heraldic charges or abbreviated decorative motifs, appear in the left and right fields. The imagery is characteristic of episcopal or feudal authority symbolism common to Lorraine deniers of the early fourteenth century. A beaded inner border frames the central design, following the scalloped contour of the irregularly shaped flan. The partial legend around the periphery identifies the mint city of Epinal. |
