The cross divides the inner area into four quarters. The circular legend surrounding the border reads the name of the issuing lord, Raymond Trencavel, in abbreviated Latin. The overall style is typical of feudal French hammered coinage of the mid-12th century, struck on a roughly shaped flan with irregular edges. |
