The design is executed in a bold, somewhat rustic style characteristic of Occitan feudal issues. The surrounding peripheral legend, separated by the inner circle, reads in Latin and alludes to the primacy of the coinage standard. The overall strike is irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production on an irregular billon flan. |
