| Opis awersu | Central fleur-de-lis rendered in a stylized, somewhat crude Romanesque manner, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend reading BARCINO (Barcelona) runs around the periphery, partially visible owing to the irregular flan and characteristic die-wear of hammered medieval coinage. The lettering is composed of angular, uncial-style capital letters interspersed with pellets as word dividers. The overall design is characteristic of the early feudal deniers struck in the County of Barcelona under Ramon Berenguer III. |

| Opis rewersu | A bold plain cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, with a prominent annulet (ring) placed at each of the four angles formed by the cross arms. The cross extends to a beaded border encircling the design, a typical composition for Carolingian-derived feudal deniers of the Iberian March. The annulets at the quadrants are a distinctive identifying feature of the Barcelona series. The flan is irregularly shaped and the strike is uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production of the early twelfth century. No legend appears on the reverse. |
