Obverse description Central field occupied by a quartered shield bearing the arms of Hungary-Anjou: the dexter half displaying four horizontal barry stripes (the Hungarian fess), and the sinister half featuring a rampant lion (the Angevin device). The shield is surmounted by a crown, with decorative scrollwork or annulets flanking the composition in the field. The overall design is rendered in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style characteristic of late 14th-century Polish minting practice.
