Obverse description Central field displays a plain cross pattée within a beaded inner circle, with a small pellet in each angle of the cross. The surrounding legend, rendered in archaic Carolingian letterforms, reads POИCIO COИES (Count Pons), distributed around the circumference between the inner beaded circle and the outer border. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of mid-eleventh-century feudal hammered coinage.
