| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by a cross formed by the arrangement of the inscription, dividing the coin surface into four quadrants. The legend, composed in crude, irregular Latin lettering, reads +CHVONRDVS M PLIGR R, referencing Emperor Conrad and Archbishop Pilgrim. The script is distributed around and across the cross axis in a manner typical of Ottonian-Salian coinage. The flan is irregular and the die workmanship is characteristic of early 11th-century Rhenish hammered silver issues. |
