| Beschrijving voorzijde | Stylized castle with three towers enclosed within a beaded inner circle, the central tower prominent and flanked by two lateral towers with crenellated battlements. The architectural device is rendered in the flat, schematic manner characteristic of medieval hammered coinage. A circular legend surrounds the inner beaded border. The overall composition is typical of Flemish feudal deniers of the late 12th to early 13th century. |

Philippe I of Namur's tenure as count was defined less by governance than by obligation — he spent much of his reign as a hostage, surrendered to the Duke of Brabant following the county's military and political subordination after 1203. Coinage struck in his name during this period was almost certainly managed by regents or local moneyers operating with minimal direct oversight, which may account for the die inconsistencies observed across Namur#41 specimens.
