Obverse description A plain Greek cross with equal arms occupies the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. Two small pellets or annulets are placed in two diagonally opposite angles of the cross, a typical decorative device of Savoyard feudal coinage. The surrounding legend, struck in uncial characters, runs clockwise between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular rim, identifying the issuer as Philip, Count of Savoy.
