Obverse description Bust of Bishop Peter facing right in profile, rendered in a rudimentary Romanesque style typical of medieval episcopal coinage. The effigy displays schematic facial features with a mitre or episcopal headdress above, and the hand raised in a gesture of benediction to the left of the bust. The legend PETRVS runs around the periphery of the irregular flan, identifying the issuing prelate. The overall style is crude and characteristic of 12th-century provincial hammered silver coinage from the Lorraine region.
