Reverse description A plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing pellet or annulet ornaments arranged in a typical Barcelonese denier pattern. The cross extends to a beaded inner circle, with the quarters displaying small decorative devices including dots and annulets. The surrounding marginal legend reads BAQINONA, a medieval rendering of Barcelona, in Latin characters around the periphery. The overall design follows the established type of the Comtal deniers of Barcelona, with a bold central cross as the dominant compositional element. Strike and flan quality are consistent with hammered billon production of fourteenth-century Catalonia.
