Beschrijving keerzijde A bold cross pattée inscribed within a polylobe or multilobe (polylobate) inner circle, the lobes framing the arms of the cross and creating a decorative rosette-like appearance. The design fills the central field between the inner and outer borders. A circular Latin legend surrounds the polylobe, contained within a beaded outer border. The overall composition is typical of Vendômois feudal deniers of the mid-13th century.

Aanvullende informatie

Peter I of Vendôme's tenure as count coincided with Louis IX's aggressive consolidation of royal monetary authority over the French feudal lords — a campaign that would, within a generation, strangle most baronial coinages entirely. That this billon denier continued to circulate alongside royal issues speaks to how tenaciously minor lords clung to their minting rights even as Capetian pressure mounted.

Poey d'Avant's reference 1808 places it firmly within a documented but sparsely represented series; surviving examples are scarce enough that die linkage studies across the type remain incomplete.
