| Beschrijving voorzijde | Royal monogram of Pepin the Short rendered in bold, deeply struck relief letters within a roughly circular flan, surmounted by a horizontal bar. The monogram, composed of the letters forming REX FRANCORUM, is presented in the characteristic Carolingian epigraphic style, with interlaced strokes occupying the full field. The flan is irregular and the strike slightly off-center, as is typical of mid-8th century Frankish hammered coinage. |
