| Reverse description | Two horizontal parallel raised bars bisect the field, a design element typical of early Carolingian deniers referencing the late Merovingian monetary tradition. Above the bars, the mint name legend is distributed across the upper field in bold, bulbous-terminated letters with pellet ornaments. Below the bars, the continuation of the mint inscription appears in similarly formed characters. The entire design is contained within an irregular beaded border. The flat, broadly spread flan and deeply cut letter forms are characteristic of the Quentovic workshop during the reign of Pepin the Short. |
